kitchen adventures and other uninteresting tales.

Life is easier to be happy about when you have fatter, fluffier pillows.

Apart from purchasing new pillows (which affirms the declaration above), I've been busy turning into a housewife. Cleaning the house, buying groceries, cooking - the only thing missing is me taking freshly-baked cookies out of the oven. And mad energizer bunnies running around throwing the cookies everywhere. They're also known as kids. ...okay, I don't really think of them that way.

Cooking has been a lot of fun though, I've been learning new tricks and perfecting old ones. I've always been a Malaysian through and through when it comes to my taste buds, so in an uneventful summer, there is great satisfaction to be had by successfully cooking a Malaysian meal.

I give you, chicken curreh with pratha, steamed rice, boiled eggs and very nicely arranged cucumbers!

I cooked that for a few friends who came over. For more pictures of my adventures in the kitchen, see my Facebook album Kitchen Experiments. Interestingly, the pictures of my cooking have generated considerably more attention and comments as opposed to the music and Youtube covers I put up on Facebook. I'm not sure whether I should be sad or happy about that, haha.

My mother, too, saw a photo of this on my Facebook and concluded that I must have used ready-made ingredients. How utterly saddening! Haha. Well, I don't really blame her considering I didn't even know how to cut a friggin onion before I left home. And just in case you're wondering, I made the curry from scratch. :)

As you can tell, I'm (understandably) quite proud of myself. Hahaha. But this is only the beginning! :D

Oh, if anybody missed my update on Facebook, I recently wrote a parody of Streamyx and Autotune. All Malaysians shall understand the grievances expressed in the song! Haha, listen to it with the lyrics here at ordinarypoetsings, it's called The Streamyx Anthem.

This weekend, I'll be heading to Istanbul until the 13th. I'm getting really excited about it now that it's so close. Hopefully, it'll be a good experience. I probably will not be updating until I come back because I'll be busy reading up more about the place and planning my trip.

Speaking of which, I decided to add a widget on this blog (see right) to keep track of what I'm currently reading; partially, it's there to remind myself that I need to finish reading them. But if you have any suggestions of what I could read based on the stuff you see there from time to time, feel free to just drop a comment and let me know. I would appreciate it. :)

Until next time, that's all for now from Ze Chef Zhi! :D Haha.
